This page walks you through your first hour. It takes a few minutes to read.
The character creator
You start in the creator. Here you set your character's body, age, name and looks.
- Name: you can draw one from the names of the era. A drawn name is always free.
- Age is for roleplay only. It changes nothing in the game.
- Background gives you clothes and one item. It is a starting point for your story, not its ending.
- Community is the village you start in: Troskowice, Semin, Želejov or Tachov.
You can also pick Newcomer. A newcomer starts on the road, without a village, and picks one later at a scribe.
You start with 80 gr in your purse.
The scribe
Your first steps lead to your village's scribe. The scribe writes you into the book of residents. From then on you belong to the village and your reputation counts.
- The first entry is free. Moving to another village costs money.
- Deeds give reputation. Each load you bring to the cart gives +1 reputation.
- Reputation raises your rank. A higher rank pays a smaller village tax.
- The scribe also gives out the daily tasks and letters to other villages.
The tutorial
The quest "First steps" waits in your journal. A compass marker shows where to go. The steps:
- Talk to the scribe. You get written into the book and learn how the village works.
- Pick your first job. The quarry and the felling are open from the start. Buy a tool from the foreman and deliver one load.
- Earn your day's wage. Deliver a few loads to the cart.
- Put some coin in the bank. One deposit is enough.
- Sleep at the inn. You pay for the bed yourself. This step ends the tutorial.
The tutorial gives nothing away. You buy your tool and your bed yourself.
A step done early counts as soon as you reach it. Know the game already? Type /samouczek pomiń in the chat. /samouczek brings it back.
Lost? Press F1 and pick "Show the way". The compass leads you to the banker, the inn, the scribe or work.

Work
You earn groschen by working. The quarry or the felling near your village is enough to begin.
- Buy a pickaxe or an axe from the foreman for 25 gr.
- Hit the rock or chop a tree until the sack or basket is full.
- Carry the load to the cart. The lord pays at once.
A load from the quarry pays 10 gr, a load of wood 10 gr. The lord takes the village tax from that. Every job level raises the rate.
All jobs and rates are on the page Jobs and pay.
The daily wage
The daily wage is the most your character earns from the lord in one day: 200 gr.
- The day starts at 5:00 in the morning. The wage counts from zero again.
- It counts what the lord and his traders pay: loads at the cart, herbs at the apothecary, fish at the fisherman, letters.
- Groschen from other players do not count.
- With a full wage the lord pays nothing more. The foreman tells you so.
- Each character has a wage of its own.
A full wage takes about half an hour of work. The rest of the evening is for people: trade, crafts, village matters or the inn.
Alms
The parish gives groschen to everyone in the game who has earned little that day. You do not have to work for it. Only your time in the game counts, wherever you are.
| Alms | Amount |
|---|---|
| for each full hour in the game | 10 gr |
| hours with alms per day | 4 |
Once your daily wage passes 50 gr, there are no more alms that day. Alms do not count toward the daily wage, and the lord takes no tax from them.
The bank and the inn
You can lose the coin in your purse on the road. A robber takes it from someone downed or bound. Coin with the banker is safe.
Depositing and keeping coin in the bank costs nothing. When you withdraw cash, the banker takes 1% of the amount.
On Monday the lord takes the fees for a horse, a house and a plot from the bank. Keep something there.
The innkeeper sells a hot meal for 6.4 gr and a night on straw or in a bed. Sleep restores you after a long day. A bed rests you faster than straw.
